In October, 1988, Tri-Com, Inc. was formally incorporated to sell and distribute as a wholesaler in the states of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Tri-Com, Inc. is a locally-owned company distributing under the business name of Convenient Store Services. We are a wholesale distributor delivering full service and an extensive and comprehensive line of products, primarily to a customer base of convenient stores and tobacco shops or outlets in southwest Missouri, southeast Kansas, northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. We serve retailers both large and small, from multi-location chain accounts to neighborhood mom & pop stores; from large corporate outlets to independently-owned retail shops.
We began our operation with the purchase of a small warehouse at 20th and Duquesne in Joplin, MO. In 1992, Convenient Store Services built a 40,000 square foot distribution warehouse and offices at 1825 Industrial Drive in Carthage, MO so that we could operate at a higher level of performance and allow for future growth. With this new warehouse we were able to broaden our service area and position ourselves to better serve the convenience and grocery industry by adding more product lines and provide a larger variety of value-added services to our customers. In 1994, Tri-Com, Inc. acquired the assets of Coker Candy Company in Parsons, KS giving our company a bigger presence in Kansas. In response to our continued growth and expansion, we added 25,000 more square footage to our warehouse facility in 2002 bringing our total warehouse and office space to approximately 65,000 square feet including two freezers and a climate-controlled cooler area. We redesigned the warehouse to utilize three receiving docks on one side of the warehouse and six shipping docks on the other side to allow for continuous product flow through the building and generate a more productive way of processing customer orders and improving warehouse space and storage. We have about fifty employees currently working at our company. We receive bulk shipments from manufacturers and redistribute these goods to our customers via our own truck fleet and company route drivers. We deliver to the four-state area within a 175-mile radius of our warehouse facility.
